The Foundations Polaris team is dedicated to building a top-tier registration, authentication, and authorization system for all users in the Grab ecosystem, specifically tailored for SEA markets. Their daily mission is to ensure robust authentication mechanisms that provide strong proof of user identity while minimizing user friction. These mechanisms are optimized for mobile, web, and voice environments.

Interns have the opportunity to perform their internship in the following areas:

• Backend Engineering
• Infrastructure software development
• LLM interaction with chatGPT

The day-to-day activities

• You will be responsible for designing and writing with the cutting-edge GO language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's services.
• You will collaborate with the engineering team to explore and create new designs/architectures geared towards scale and performance.
• You will support the debugging and modification of complex, production software.
• You will be involved in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards.
• You will engage in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning, and optimization.
• You will collaborate closely with the infrastructure team in building and scaling backend services and performing root cause analysis investigations.​​​​​

About you

This opportunity is only for students who must be able to commit for at least 3 months or up to 6 months for an internship. To apply for this role, you must have the qualifications below:

• 3- 6 months commitment required 
• You should be a full-time student majoring in Software Engineering, Computer  Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology/Science, or related fields seeking a matriculated internship
• You should be enrolled in a university
• Working knowledge in programming tools and languages such as Golang, Python
• You should have the ability to structure data and write algorithms

It's also nice if you have the following:

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Positive attitude and can-do spirit are critical
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a willingness to learn, but also to challenge the status quo
• Team player who is motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
• Having previous experience in Engineering or other related fields may be an advantage.
